Broer OagengMr Broer Oageng’s performances were recorded by Dave Dargie in Mahalapye, approximately 200km North of Gaborone, Botswana, in 1989. Mr Oageng performed on his instrument, a Segapa, Tswana for a wooden bow attached to a tin with a single string.

Dargie recorded three songs from Mr Oageng – Ka Umponwana, a song describing the inappropriateness of the miniskirt in traditional society, Re tsamaya kwa Kanamo, a songs Mr Oageng composed in response to of a church music workshop held at Kanamo Centre in Mahalapye, and the traditional Tswana song Mmachobela.
